Why there are no fixed "minimum" prices
Until 2025, Bulgaria's Ordinance No. 1 set binding minimum attorney fees. Following amendments in force since 18 February 2025 and further changes to the Attorneys' Act and the Civil Procedure Code in force since 13 February 2026, the ordinance no longer imposes a binding floor - fees are freely negotiated between attorney and client under a written contract, based on the value of the interest, the complexity of the matter and the actual work performed (Art. 36(3) of the Bulgarian Attorneys' Act).
The prices below are indicative - calculated from the ordinance's former scale (converted to euro at the fixed rate 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN) and common practice. They give you a realistic idea in advance; the exact fee is always confirmed in a written contract once I understand your case.

Additional factors that can change the price
Legal assistance in a foreign language - typically +50%. Support required with urgency or on non-working days - typically double the fee. A case with more than two court hearings - an additional fee for each further hearing. All surcharges are agreed explicitly and set out in the written contract.

What determines the exact price for my case?
The value of the interest at stake, the complexity of the matter, the amount of work involved and the court instance. The exact fee is set out in a written contract after a free introductory conversation.
Do you charge VAT on top of the fee?
If the attorney is VAT-registered, the applicable VAT is charged separately on top of the agreed fee and stated explicitly in the contract and invoice.
How is the fee paid?
Payment is usually due in advance, at the date the legal services agreement is signed, and can be split into instalments by agreement.
